I Golden Globes 2024 sono ormai alle porte e le nomination per l’81ª edizione sono appena state annunciate, anticipando la cerimonia che si terrà il prossimo 7 gennaio presso il Beverly Hills Hotel a Los Angeles.
Questa edizione riveste un’importanza particolare, poiché segna il debutto dopo la dissoluzione della Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Quest’associazione, responsabile di premiare i migliori talenti stranieri a Hollywood, è stata travolta da scandali negli anni passati, principalmente legati a pratiche discriminatorie e favoritismi interni. Nel 2021, l’edizione non è stata nemmeno trasmessa in televisione a causa di tali controversie.
In seguito al modesto successo dell’anno precedente, è stato deciso di separarsi dall’associazione, consentendo ai Golden Globes di continuare come un evento indipendente. Questa decisione è stata facilitata dall’acquisizione del marchio da parte della potente Dirk Clark Productions, nota per la produzione di spettacoli di grande portata come gli American Music Awards, So You Think You Can Dance e il tradizionale countdown di fine anno, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
Tra i candidati spiccano i blockbuster dell’anno, tra cui Barbie, Oppenheimer e Killers of the Flower Moon. Tra le serie, Succession emerge come la più nominata. L’Italia gode di una nota di orgoglio con la candidatura del film Io Capitano di Matteo Garrone nella categoria miglior film straniero.
